**From Maine to the world's nightmares:**

Stephen Edwin King was born on September 21, 1947 in Portland, Maine, into a humble family. Since childhood, he demonstrated a fascination with horror stories and writing, devouring comics and creepy stories. His childhood was marked by constant moves and some episodes of poverty, feeding his imagination with the urban legends and mysteries that lurked in each new home.

     **A precocious writer:**

 At the age of 12, King was already selling short stories to magazines such as "Startling Mystery Stories", taking his first steps into the literary world.

In 1974, he published his first novel, "Carrie," which catapulted him to fame and gave him the financial freedom he had always longed for. Since then, he has become one of the most prolific and recognized authors in the world, with more than 80 books published and sales exceeding 350 million copies.

**A universe of horror and suspense:**

King's works are characterized by exploring the darkest corners of the human psyche, weaving stories full of suspense, supernatural terror and psychological elements. His characters, often ordinary people faced with extraordinary situations, captivate us with their vulnerability and realism.

**Horror Masterpieces:**

Among his most iconic works are "It," a terrifying story about a murderous clown who stalks a group of children; "The Shining," a psychological horror classic that takes place in a haunted hotel; "Misery," a psychological thriller about a writer kidnapped by an obsessive fan; and "The Animal Cemetery", a chilling story about the resurrection of the dead.
